Pivot and High Pallet Pivot Safety Gates

The Pivot Safety Gate is a dual-gate fall protection system with few moving parts, making it a durable industrial mezzanine safety gate for demanding environments. The Pivot and High Pallet Pivot safety gates are engineered for pallet drop areas with tall pallet loads or within demanding environmental conditions.

Using multiple pivot points rather than a chain-and-sprocket counterbalance, the Pivot gate provides compliant fall protection in a smaller footprint — with fewer moving parts, ergonomic fingertip operation, and a design that performs reliably in freezer, food processing, chemical, and frequent-rinse environments.

The Pivot Safety Gate meets or exceeds OSHA and ANSI standards for fall protection at elevated platform openings.

How the Pivot Gate Works

The Pivot gate uses a dual counterbalanced system with multiple pivot points to allow the gate panels to clear tall pallet loads while maintaining a continuously enclosed workstation. When the rear gate is lifted, the ledge gate closes automatically — creating a fixed barrier that extends to the floor between the worker and the open ledge. When the ledge-side gate is lifted to allow a pallet to be loaded or removed, the rear gate closes, maintaining protection on the platform side.

At no point during the transfer cycle is the workstation open on both sides simultaneously. 

When to Specify the Pivot Gate

The Pivot gate is the correct specification when one or more of the following conditions apply:

• Tall pallet loads — the standard Pivot model accommodates loads up to 54″ tall; the High Pallet Pivot (HPP) model accommodates loads up to 80″ tall
• Limited platform depth — the multiple-pivot-point design takes up less platform space than a counterbalanced rolling gate system
• Hostile environments — stainless steel models withstand chemical exposure, freezer temperatures, hot and cold cycling, and frequent pressure rinsing without degradation
• Food processing or pharmaceutical applications — stainless steel construction meets hygiene and sanitation requirements
• Rack supported applications — the Pivot is available in a rack supported configuration that integrates with any manufacturer’s rack structures

The High Pallet Pivot (HPP) Model

The High Pallet Pivot (HPP) is the correct specification when loads exceed 54″ in height — accommodating pallet loads up to 80″ tall while maintaining a compliant, enclosed workstation. The HPP uses the same multiple-pivot-point mechanism as the standard Pivot model, scaled to provide greater clearance height without increasing the platform footprint beyond what the application requires. HPP models are available in both single-wide (60″ drop area) and double-wide (100″ drop area) configurations.

• Painted mild steel — standard industrial finish for general warehouse, distribution, and manufacturing environments
• Stainless steel — for food processing, pharmaceutical, chemical, cleanroom, freezer, and frequent-rinse environments; withstands hot/cold temperature cycling and pressure washing without structural degradation

The Pivot Safety Gate meets or exceeds:

• OSHA 29 CFR 1910.23 — Walking-Working Surfaces; fall protection at mezzanine and elevated platform openings
• ANSI standards — applicable to guardrail and fall protection systems
